Minecraftin'!

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 17, 2010, 9:14 AM
I spent the better portion of last night in a sweaty, belabored heap, building myself a set of stairs for a cavern I dug to take shelter in. Torches around the dig site, to keep the unruly, exploding green phallus' at bay. They weren't about to get the one-up on me again. No sir. A man's only got so much bacon available to him for healing. I'd done enough work during the day punching cows with a tree branch to merit a good nights sleep. I felt I earned it.

But in the long run, I knew. A Minecrafter's work is truly never done. :|

MINECRAFT!  (And if you do end up getting it, the The Minepedia! , an indispensable guide to crafting!)

Check out this little gem, if you haven't already heard of it. (Since by the looks of things it's already doing its rounds on the interwebs.) Being a somewhat enthusiastic proponent of indie game dev, I wasn't able to keep myself from purchasing it despite the mountain of work I have stapled to my forehead. Aaaaand I'm glad I did, haha.

It's a very, very simple game. And certainly not for everyone. If you're especially keen on space marines shooting testosterone bullets out of chainguns, you may find it lacking. But in this simplicity lies something so strangely addictive I couldn't pass up on mentioning it here.

Oh, and it's like. Thirteen bucks. A genny-wine steal, by gum!

But anyhoo, back to commissions. I'll have a round of them done this weekend for those of you waiting! And thanks for stopping by. :)

I am now building a giant Angel Island (like Sonic the Hedgehog 3) from scratch. It is built high over the ocean, it is at least 20 by 30 right now, and is covered in grass from this giant dirt stair case i made connecting it to a very small island.

I recently got done building a stone house on top of a giant tree I planted outside of my even bigger, four-plied stone and dirt house. I had a creeper blow that house up twice :c

You should build a house on top of a tree. Make it a castle or something. It's pretty boss. And then make your roof out of dirt, and plant ANOTHER tree on TOP of the house, and make a SECOND STORY HOUSEEEEEEEEE

Me and my friend have been playing together, and i made a giant tower that pierces the heavens (which is unfortunately not as high as i wanted it to be), the tower has no torches or windows in it, and the 3 floors inside of it are made of glass, so it only uses natural lighting. It also happens to be aligned perfectly with the moon/sun.

Surrounding the tower is a giant cavern with a river running through it (which i redirected, and my friend assisted with flooding), and the only way to get out of the cavern after falling in is to ride said river to a secret little exit later down.

I took down all the torches in the cavern, too.

it was fun :D

I've played that game. It's pretty entertaining. Especially the monstrous trees that sometimes occur!

I'm still contemplating the logistics of punching something, bovine or otherwise, with a tree branch.

Also I wonder if you're the reason the site went down yesterday? XD

Ah yes, the wonders of Minecraft. My game copy is great because the Terrain Generator is screwed up, giving me floating mountains and pitfalls to the core, and mountains that hit the sky limit.

Nothing scarier than staking out the night on a boat in the middle of dark water. I keep expecting a creeper to fall from the sky or something.

Needless to say I think I have a newfound fear of the dark. Maybe I should put torches in my room?

I played the old version (the completely empty and not entirely interesting old version) for a while, and while it was fun to make a fort and make pretty pictures in the ground, I wanted something more. Apparently the new version offers that. Now, to find the money to buy it...

I know Corey already commented and took credit for this, but I believe it was I that got you addicted! I got Corey into Minecraft, therefore, it was me that got you into it...by association. lol

Do torches keep exploding dudes at bay? This info would have helped save me so many times.

Anyway, your post has probably sold numerous copies lol.

I'm so glad people are getting into Minecraft. I've had this thing for several months, much before it got mainstream. This game has so much potential.

I have heard good things about Minecraft.
I have also heard terrible things about Minecraft.

I had not, however, heard that the new Professor Layton game is out. o__o

There goes my free time for the next month and a half :'D

I'm seriously thinking about buying this game while it's in Alpha since it's cheaper. I'm playing it no with offline (because I wanted to try it without limits, I know I'm bad, but whatever). I need to ask someone to get it for me though, poor. :(

My poverty keeps me from playing the cool kid games. ( Д `

Watching videos and livestreams, I feel like I'm addicted to it, already.

In my opinion, its the idea of gathering resources from anything in order to create your own little world.

love minecraft. =D

My plan is to have 4 towers surrounding my (small) base, each tower based on an element. I've already got a lava tower. now I just gotta make a water tower, earth tower, and air (er... glassy) tower.

the only thing I'm wondering is what to put in each of the towers... I already have a sort of art gallery/library in the lava tower. I figure I'll have a garden for growing reeds and flowers in the earth tower. but I have no idea what to put in the water and air towers.

Oh gosh, Minecraft again XD My brother is soooo addicted to that~!

I like to watch him play it, though. I don't think I'd be able to play it, but it's good enough to watch! I like games like that. (: (even if I don't play them myself)

He just bought it yesterday, until then, he'd been building giant towers and figures (like maga man and any other 8-bit character) in the classic version.

My friend got this game and I saw him playing it for a few minutes, I'm in two minds about getting it, it really just looks like the mining aspect of Runescape but low-budget to me. But then again I also like indie-games XD I'm just more into them if they're a little more imaginative like all those flash games you see with wonderfully creative plots like playing as a psychopath inside his own mind - the creepier the better.

Ah, my brother recently started playing Minecraft. It looks really fun. :D

He doesn't have such a big mansion or cavern, though. And he doesn't have a complex or incredibly impressive system. He always plays on easy, so he wouldn't die. >>

It's still something that distracts him from playing MW2 all day, though. So I approve. =w=)b

I tried to build an underground SECRET EVIL LAB on minecraft-classic, but hit a lava pit which flooded it.

The actual Minecraft game looks infinitely more awesome (ROLLERCOASTERS!!?!?!) and will go on my priority list of games to buy.
May the exploding green phallus never breach through your defences. o7
