Thanks to everybody who showed up for the introductory session in the DACAD chat. :3 We appreciate your patience in the overall semi-chaotic format we had going there for a while. XD This is still a learning process after all, and over time we hope to continue fine-tuning this process until we are a slick running engine of creative juggernautery. 8|
We're currently putting together a forum, and a base of operation here on DA (an account for the assignments to be shown off together), an event calendar to announce when artists are going to be able to give lectures of their choice, among many other things. But the initial burst of interest has been wonderful, and so far things are looking up. :3
Next on the list! OCTs! You know them, you love them, or quite possibly loathe them. There sure are a good deal of them around nowadays. What am I talking about? OCT = original character tournament, a format for creative sequential artists to pit their skills against one another in various settings and plotlines and such. They seem to currently be all the rage here on DA, with no shortage of stuff to join.
I wanted to mention a few for folks who were looking to get their fix:
Oberon's Garden [link] - This is a fantasy tournament with twists, something I think I can appreciate, as most folks consider traditional fantasy to be a boring subject to deal with. In my opinion that's kind of refreshing, with all the other OCTs in existence trying to push as far from the norm as possible. The classics work for a reason y'know! Well. Not too classic. I mean. It has bloodthirsty unicorns. Where the hell else are you going to get bloodthirsty unicorns? 8D
Artist's at the Ready [link] - A tournament wherein you enter YOURSELF along with the ability to summon your own original characters to your side to duke it out with your opponent. Scheduled for the summer, I believe. Sounds pretty cool to me. :3
The Ebon Spire [link] sci-fi multi-inter-super-dimensional fantasy travel. 8| At least I think that's the official genre. Go check it out. XD
[link] There actually seem to be quite a few tourneys and such popping out of this one, I'm not sure which is the most recent but all of them seem quite interesting.
SDL [link] - Well hell. There's always stuff to do at SDL. :3
..there also seems to be a tournament of a most villainous nature, of dark and decrepit intentions, of malicious and malevolent methodology on the horizon.. however.. it's too early to talk about that right now. But soon enough. <3
