As you may or may not know, the studio I work in recently published a duet of games. Roogoo: Twisted Towers on the Wii and Roogoo Attack! for the DS. Roogoo is an action arcade game, a puzzly affair, wherein you have to consistently drop shapes through the correct holes in order to nab a high score and progress to the next level. Sounds easy, amirite? Well, it most likely is at first, until you eventually factor in traps, bothersome butterflies, giant puzzle-hating robots, and of course the dastardly "weird dog monkey things" as so many folks have described them, the ravenous Meemoo and their inexplicably bitter prince. Like or lump the puzzle genre, releasing a new game is pretty cool all in all. XD And I'd like to celebrate with a bit of a shindig here on DA. So without further ado!



Now, it's a common misconception that Roogoo is a kiddy game. With it's shape-based puzzleness, it's bright colors and marshmallow-faced main character, it's easy to get lost in the whole apparent cheeriness of the franchise. But this is simply not so. Roogoo, my friends, is SRS BSNS in the video game world! MARCUS FENIX. MASTER CHIEF. KRATOS. ROOGOO. And that is what we will be working with.

I want you to make an illustration, or a comic, or a flash, or just about anything you can think of.. depicting any of the characters from Roogoo taking on a popular video game character or characters. Or interacting in a sort of crossover environment. Know what I mean? Now, if you haven't seen the cast of Roogoo (there aren't too many.. three, count 'em three.) you can find a handy dandy reference advertisement I made over yonder: [link]

Roogoo, the eponymous hero, the Meemoo, a weird sort of inverted roogoo species with a crack addiction to colorful shapes, and the Prince, with a scowl that can knock people's teeth out. I would like to see you, to the best of your ability, illustrate one or all of these varmints taking it to the rest of the game world, of past or present. Are you sick of any given video game character and would like to see a fuzzy bear like creature dropping an anvil on his head? Draw a swarm of Meemoos devouring the mushroom kingdom? Left 4 Roogoo? Well now is your chance to see that beautiful dream through. 8| Overall, just looking for a gamey theme here, be it from 8-bit times to the present.

But ultimately, you are free to be as creative as you like. You don't have to mimic the exact style I use to depict the characters, and you don't HAVE to make them beating the living snot out of other characters either. (But of course you're more than welcome to go with that theme as well. XD) This is about having fun, creating something silly or entertaining or whatever you can dream up, in YOUR art style. The winning entries are going to be stacked together in terms of entertainment value, not purely artistic merit or grand scale.
