Problem solved(?). Thank you. XD

Hey folks. Got the new computer in. None of the old hard drive has been recovered yet, but it might still be possible once I can get the guys at work to look at it. Right now it's all about re-installing the mishmash of add-ons and accessories I had working properly. No time to celebrate unfortunately as I've already gotten complications.

I got a new version of Photoshop (CS3) and everything is seemingly fine there, but I've discovered an incredibly annoying problem with my Intuos 3 tablet.

In Photoshop, when I'm trying to make a line, there's now about a 75% chance whenever I make a stroke that the stylus will make a full dot before doing the actual line. So instead of like a thin to thick strand, I get a full thick dot, THEN a thin to thick strand. It's like it's registering that I've tapped the tablet, then began a stroke. I'd think it was my hands problem if this had never once happened before until I got the new computer/new Photoshop. (The tablet was working fine prior, even on the old computer. No weird tapping issue like this.) I have the most updated drivers too.

Before you ask, I already tried out the other stylus that came with the tablet, and it does the same exact thing, so it's not the nib. It's not the setting of the particular brush I was using in PS either, because I switched brushes a few times and all did the same thing.

If anyone could help with this problem, or has experienced it before and got rid of it somehow, please let me know. :( I would be very appreciative. I'll even do a chibi commish for free to show that appreciation if you know of a fix! Thank you!

Uh.. after doing a combination of things (uninstalling, re-installing, updating drivers, re-installing Photoshop CS, fiddling with pen tablet properties) and following some of =scrotumnose's advice, I think I nipped the problem in the bud. So far so good anyway. Thanks to all the people who replied, you guys are the best. :) I appreciate the sentiments.

You try updating the driver? You can download it from the Wacom site. Sometimes my intuos3 goes out on me and I have to reinstall the driver multiple times..good to hear you're almost up and runnin again!

I would think that's it's something that has to do with the settings and configuration... have you tried changing the sensitivity of it, or something like that? That's all I can think of, unless maybe (for some weird reason) it's not cooperating correctly with your new PS or computer :shrug:

I don't have an Intuos, but I've experienced similar problems with my Graphire. I think the problem is with CS3, 'cause when I downgraded to CS2, everything was fine. Maybe try checking the Adobe website and support forms for a temporary fix.

Good luck, hopefully it's just a temporary problem ^-^;;

Hmm. The only thing I could suggest is delete the tablet driver completely, then reinstall it from scratch. Not just plain reinstall, as that just rewrites some of the driver files, but a brand new install with all new files. Hope this helps :)

Possibly a driver issue? Try uninstalling and then reinstalling it again.

My old tablet used to do something like that. I always had to restart photoshop and it worked fine after I did that.
