Bertram is the big fella in the back. He's a silent clown in the stylings of Emmett Kelly, though his particular brand of humor is a little too old-school to keep up with the ever changing tastes of an already fickle circus-going audience. Despite being a quite stoic individual, he has a flair for the dramatic all his own. Also, he loves to play the harmonica, an instrument Oliver loathes.
Mara is the twig sitting on Bertram's arm, the astounding prodigy of the Alptraum Circus, a masterful hypnotist with abilities rumored to rival those of their late father and ringmaster. She speaks in utter gibberish that Bertram seems to understand, though it may be a simple fact that they are barely ever separated and can read each other that well.
Oliver gets along with both well enough, but is usually too caught up in his own pitch that he rarely pays them too much mind.
Since the.. incident, not to mention their father's subsequent disappearance, he has been left in charge of a motley assortment of traveling circus folk that-- well. I shouldn't really say much more. Not yet. XD
Tom Waits was the Devil in it.
His design overall and particularly the way he looks in this image seems very Oda-esque to me!
Your work is so inspiring * u *
