Description

In no particular order. |D Don't trust the numbers below.

1. Some folks will tell you Final Fantasy 6 is the most overrated installment in the franchise. To these individuals, I offer a simple wish. I trust that, one of these days, a small, enraged battalion of hornets is going to tear your anus into an onion blossom of shredded flesh ribbons to make up for this great injustice you befoul my ears with.

That aside. Final Fantasy 6 marked the first time my entire gaming history that I felt for the characters I was playing as. I went to school THINKING about the game, doodling the characters and their names in the margins. The cast, story, and scope stuck with me for a long, long time.

2. Megaman 2 was the reason I got into art in the first place. I owe most of my drive to draw to this franchise, but 2 more than any other.

3. Turf wars in a highschool? It.. really didn't get much more badass than that 'round when River City Ransom was available. Haha. 'Barf' became my favorite sound effect for some years to come.

4. One of the most awesome, most hilariously racist games ever made.

5. The cutscenes and incredibly moody atmosphere in this game added an incredible new layer to my gaming experience. It almost made the SKIN PEELING DIFFICULTY of this game bearable. My folks have home videos with me playing Ninja Gaiden offscreen. You know how you can still tell? The 'death theme' playing over and over again.

6. Smash Brothers Melee was the pinnacle of the franchise. And I made it my bitch. None but the finger of god itself could stop me in multiplayer. :| (Then Brawl came along and I never got the hang of the tweaked physics. Rats.)

7. Secret of Mana.. just one of many RPGs I was enthralled by. Loved the graphics, the gameplay, ugh, the music still makes me weep giant muscular man tears to this day.

8. I was a latecomer to the Fallout franchise, which to most would mean I never played the best in the series. Welp, maybe that's true, but my experience in both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas gave me a new level of appreciation for the open world mechanic. Approaching events at your own pace, in the order of your choosing, and solving them in whatever way you see fit..? Hell. Yes. I've never seen it done as well in any game of its kind.

9. Super Metroid made me feel alone, detached.. at times, flat out scared. And I didn't know I could derive entertainment from these feelings till Super Metroid came along. xD GO BACK TO SIDESCROLLING, SAMUS. YOU'RE BREAKIN' MAH HEART.

10. Pokeyman. Yeah. I caught them all. Deal with it.
